What the health labels mean

What "Needs you now", "Needs a look" and "Healthy" mean, and what to do about each message.

Every site gets one plain label. It's based on the checks the dashboard runs on its own, so every message is something we actually saw.

The labels

  • Needs you now: this can hurt your visitors or your site today. Handle these first.
  • Needs a look: nothing is broken, but it will cause trouble later.
  • Healthy: the checks found nothing.
  • Plugin off: the PressConduit plugin is turned off on that site, so we can't check it.
  • Checking…: we haven't looked at this site yet. Give it a moment.

Here's what they look like in the Needs you view:

Sites grouped by urgency, with the reason for each one written in plain words

Hover over a Health label in the list or cards view to see the full reason.

The messages, and what to do

"Can't reach this site. It may be down." (Needs you now) Open the site in a new tab. If it's down, check with the host. If it loads fine, click Check again.

"Not using HTTPS, so visitors' connections aren't secure." (Needs you now) The site's address starts with http instead of https. Click Ask Claude to fix, or ask your host to turn on an SSL certificate.

"Hasn't reported in a while." (Needs a look) The site stopped checking in. Click Check again. If it keeps happening, see Site shows "plugin deactivated".

"2 plugins and 1 theme waiting to update." (Needs a look) Click Update 3. See Update your sites.

"WordPress is behind." (Needs a look) WordPress itself has a newer version. Click Update in Admin. WordPress core updates are done in WP Admin, not from the dashboard.

"No backup yet." or "Last backup was 20 days ago." (Needs a look) Click Back up now. A backup is flagged as old after 14 days. See Backups.

"PHP is out of date." (Needs a look) PHP is the engine WordPress runs on. Only your host can upgrade it, so ask them. There's no button for this one.

"An administrator is named admin." (Needs a look) "admin" is the first username attackers try. Click Ask Claude to fix, and Claude can help you switch to a different one.

The big button

Open a site's details page and the same list appears under What needs attention, with a tag for how urgent each item is:

The What needs attention list on a site details page, with Update all and See themes buttons

When a site has more than one problem, the Needs you view shows the worst one first, with a button for it. Fix that, and the next one moves up.

Still stuck? Open a ticket. Tell us what you tried and we'll take it from there.
