Connect your first site

The whole process from a fresh WordPress site to your first request to the AI, in about five minutes.

Here's the short version. You install the plugin, click one button, then paste one link into your AI assistant. Each step is spelled out below.

Before you start

  • You're signed in to your PressConduit account. If not, create one.
  • You can log in to the WordPress admin (wp-admin) of the site you want to connect.
  • You have Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor ready.

The steps

  1. Download the plugin. Get it from your dashboard setup screen, or go straight to pressconduit.com/download. You'll get a file called pressconduit.zip. Don't unzip it.
  2. Install it. In wp-admin, go to Plugins, then Add New, then Upload Plugin. Choose the zip and click Install Now, then Activate. The plugin pairs with PressConduit by itself when you activate it.
  3. Open the PressConduit menu in wp-admin and click Connect to Conduit.
  4. Approve the connection. You'll land on a PressConduit page that says "Authorize this site to connect." Log in if it asks, read the note, and click Approve & connect. You can disconnect any time.
  5. Copy the connector URL. Back in wp-admin, the PressConduit screen now shows a connector URL and buttons for Claude and ChatGPT.
  6. Add it to your AI assistant. Connect Claude or connect ChatGPT or Cursor.

Try it

Ask your assistant something harmless first, like "List my five most recent posts." If it answers with real posts from your site, you're connected.

Use the same browser for steps 3 to 6. Add the connector from the same browser where you're logged in to wp-admin. The connection is approved through that browser's session. If you use a different one, you'll get a "No Conduit session in this browser" error. See that error.
