"Pairing failed" or re-pairing a site
What to do when a site won't pair, or when you need a fresh connector URL.
Pairing is the handshake between your site and PressConduit. It normally happens by itself when you activate the plugin.
If you see "Pairing failed"
The message on the PressConduit screen usually ends with a reason. Common causes:
- The site can't reach PressConduit. A host firewall or a security plugin may be blocking outgoing connections to
pressconduit.com. Allow it and try again. - The plugin is an old version. If it's been a while, update to the latest version and try again. See Keep the plugin up to date.
Once that's sorted, open the PressConduit menu and click Connect to Conduit.
If you need a fresh connector URL
Clear the pairing from the PressConduit screen. You'll see a message that the local pairing was cleared and that you need to re-pair to get a fresh connector URL. Click Connect to Conduit to pair again and approve the connection. Then add the new URL to your AI assistant. The old connector entry won't work any more, so delete it there.
Still failing?
Open a ticket and include the exact "Pairing failed" message. It usually tells us where to look.
